| | About The Bees Knees
Kristen Hendrickson Winters and Meghan O'Neill (Kris and Meg) have been best of pals since the summer before their freshman year at Rumson Fair Haven Regional High school (go dawgs!) Kris grew up in Rumson, Meg in Fair Haven and the two became inseparable as soon as they met.
The two shared a 'passion for fashion' and a natural knack for shopping (like so many of us!). One of their favorite things to do was to take trips together to see what new boutiques they could stumble upon and new designers they could bring home with them!
Since they both were raised in the Red Bank area, the girls were very aware of the lack of boutique shopping - where could a girl go to get that special outfit or perfect accessory? It was on their trip to New Orleans that the girls vocalized to each other their dream of opening a boutique of their own - a preppy yet chic place for women and girls of all ages. That was it, they had to go for it!
With some persistence, Kris and Meg convinced Kris's father, Chuck Hendrickson of Fire House Specialty Shop, to "lease" them the front half of his shop so they could share space with the Firehouse Specialty Shop and create the newest chic boutique on Broad Street, Red Bank.
The girls quit their jobs, picked up a paint brush and didn't look back! With pink and green in mind, the girls had a mission and didn't stop until their store space was perfect!!
The Bees Knees was born on October 25th 2004. With a fabulous party to celebrate the opening, Kris and Meg took a deep breath and put the months of hard work and preparation behind them, their dream had come true! The Bees Knees is better and more fun than they could have ever imagined. One look around the store and you can see their sense of style, fun, creativity and friendship that has been the backbone of their relationship.
The Bees Knees is much more than a boutique. Kris and Meg have found that they love spending time with their customers ( even when they have the day off, they just can't stay away.) The bees is a place to be, a fun place to shop for every generation, for all occasions! |
